چکیده

The role of catecholamines was investigated in uninephrectomized SpragueDawley male rats made hypertensive by administration of desoxycorticosterone and a high salt diet. The accumulation of tritiated norepinephrine and the endogenous norepinephrine levels were measured in the various organs. The content of endogenous norepinephrine and the accumulation of H-norepinephrine 1 hour after its injection were reduced in the heart, spleen, intestine, skeletal muscle, and kidney of hypertensive rats as compared to controls. Simultaneously, an increase in total H-metabolites was also found in the hypertensive animals. A highly significant inverse relation was established between the level of blood pressure and the accumulation of H-norepinephrine or endogenous norepinephrine levels in the heart. The abnormalities observed in the disposition of exogenously administered and endogenous norepinephrine do not appear to be secondary to a change in the distribution of cardiac output to the various organs. Since the initial uptake was normal in the hypertensive rats, the reduced capacity to accumulate norepinephrine seems to be related to a defect in the storage of norepinephrine. ADDITIONAL

Catecholamine Contents of Different Region of Adult Rat Brain Are Altered Following Short and Long-term Exposures to Pb+2

Catecholamine is a group of neurotransmitters that is believed to be responsible for the normal function of animal brain. Physiological and behavioral changes of human body have been reported due to the damage of the brain function following lead exposure. Due to the assumption of lead disposal in brain tissue with two year for its half-life, which results in alteration of brain function, we in...

Genetic regulation of catecholamine synthesis, storage and secretion in the spontaneously hypertensive rat.

Understanding catecholamine metabolism is crucial for elucidating the pathogenesis of hereditary hypertension. Here we integrated transcriptional and biochemical profiling with physiologic quantitative trait locus (eQTL and pQTL) mapping in adrenal glands of the HXB/BXH recombinant inbred (RI) strains, derived from the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) and normotensive Brown Norway (BN.Lx). ...

Catecholamine metabolism in hypertensive rats.

The possible role of catecholamines in two forms of experimental hypertension in rats was investigated further. Inbred, spontaneously hypertensive (SH) Wistar rats had unchanged endogenous levels of norepinephrine (NE) in the three tissues studied, and a significantly (P<0.05) decreased rate of NE synthesis (C-tyrosine technique) in heart and brainstem but not in gut, in comparison to normotens...

Circulating catecholamine levels in human and experimental hypertension.

The radiometric enzymatic technique of Coyle and Henry (J. Neurochem. 21: 61-67, 1973) was adapted to the measurement of serum catecholamines. This technique requires less time than other enzymatic techniques and is sensitive to quantities as small as 25 pg. In normotensive subjects lying supine for 20 minutes serum catecholamine levels averaged 0.218 ng/ml, with no obvious sex or age differenc...

Minocycline attenuates cirrhotic cardiomyopathy and portal hypertension in a rat model: Possible involvement of nitric oxide pathway

Objective(s): An increase in nitric oxide (NO) production has been reported in cirrhotic cardiomyopathy and, portal hypertension. Since minocycline has been shown to inhibit NO overproduction, we aimed to examine its role in a rat model of CCl4-induced cirrhotic cardiovascular complications. Materials and Methods: Portal pressure and inotropic responsiveness of isolated papillary muscles to is...
